Born March 1, 1967 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Professor Marcelo Carvalho began his studies of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1977 under a respected and
reknown Master Monir. In 1985, Marcelo Carvalho began training under Master Joe Moreira, who is responsible for bringing in a new era of jiu jitsu competition
in Brazil with the biggest competition called Atlantico Sul Cup.
After Joe Moreira moved to the United States, Professor Marcelo Carvalho had the privilege to train under Master Claudio Franca (Claudio Franca BJJ) and Master Marcus Vinicius Di Lucca
(Beverly Hills Jiu JItsu). They moved to the United States and Professor Marcelo Carvalho had the honor to be accepted to train with Master Vinicius Campello
and Master Otavio 'Ratinho' Couto (AKXE Jiu JItsu Team).
Professor Marcelo Carvalho moved to the United States in 1996 and began training with Master Joe Moreira. In 1999, Professor Carvalho was awarded his black belt by Master Joe Moreira.
Professor Marcelo has been training with Master Joe Moreira since 1985 and has been with him the longest than any other student!
